Founded in 1996 by Bob Houston, Solarbeam Security is the leading provider of Solar Powered Perimeter Security Systems. As an enthusiastic electronics engineer and entrepreneur Bob took an interest in the security industry after being victimized by a burglary in the early 1980's. He began by tinkering with photoelectric beam detectors and closed circuit television products purchased from Assured Security, a small family owned burglar alarm company located in Homestead , Florida .

Bob's entrepreneurial spirit took hold and he purchased Assured Security in 1985 and within a few years he transformed the firm into one of the largest and most respected companies in the industry.

During this time Assured employed more than fifty security professionals and provided one of the most advanced twenty-four hour UL listed monitoring stations available anywhere. At the same time, the company was transitioning from a primarily residential security provider into a Security Systems Integration company; focusing on Commercial and Industrial applications. With renewed purpose, the company swiftly became the provider of choice for integrated camera and access control systems as well as outdoor perimeter solutions: including fence detection, buried coax, microwave and traditional labor intensive hardwired photoelectric beams.

The opportunity for Bob to explore alternative solutions for outdoor perimeter protection came when Republic Industries and billionaire H. Wayne Huizinga purchased Assured Security in 1996. This afforded Bob the opportunity to focus his energy solely on the development and advancement of alternative technologies, specifically Solar Powered and Wireless Communications.

The Solarbeam solution quickly evolved and it was late in the 1990's when Bob approached his friend and attorney Mike Marcus to share in the future growth of Solarbeam Security. Mike recognized the opportunity and readily invested in the company; becoming a full partner-owner as well as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Council. The partnership has flourished- allowing for SolarBeam's expansion from a niche product manufacturer to an international supplier with a worldwide reputation for quality products and exceptional service.

Solarbeam Security holds two patents for the Solarbeam Security Product line.
